The summer is just about here and both the temperature and humidity are on the rise. We have all heard of dehumidifiers, but do we really understand what they are and how they work?
A dehumidifiers prime responsibility is to regulate the humidity in a room. Dehumidifiers do this by removing excess moisture from the air. When the humidity is decreased, a less welcoming environment is created for mold, dust mites, and other microscopic organisms that cause allergies. Portable room dehumidifiers, like a Haier Dehumidifier, work much like air conditioners. Warm, moist air enters the dehumidifier and then passes through refrigerant cooled coils, this causes the moisture in the air to condense on the coils within the machine. The moisture in the air then collects in a drip pan or bucket for disposal. After the air passes through the coils it is slightly reheated before being released. The reheating process is done by trapping and using the heat produced from the energy used to cool the air. The air released is slightly warmed and dry. The warmer dry air then attracts the moisture in room and the process repeats itself. Pretty cool, huh?

There is a defrost system that de-ices the dehumidifier as needed and switches off when the drip pan is full. When the dehumidifier detects the proper level of dryness in the air it shuts itself off. Amazing!
